For those who use APA data only occasionally, APA offers two kinds of transactional options:
By-the-item access for full text and day passes for several other databases.
You may purchase single journal articles or chapters from the PsycARTICLES and PsycBOOKS databases.
You may also purchase 24-hr day passes from PsycINFO, PsycEXTRA, and PsycCRITIQUES,
or purchase a package deal of the day pass databases.
Researchers who find APA full-text content through another search can purchase it through APA PsycNET.
Or you can search APA’s full text directly with PsycNET. Search for free, and pay only when you want the content.
On PubMed, a researcher is looking for data on pet ownership's benefits.
Enter our searach terms: "pet ownership"
and "positive."
And search.
Reviewing our results
we want to take a closer look at this one.
You review and want to purchase it.
Go to the APA full text box.
You are taken to an APA PsycNET landing page.
That's it.
Let's make the purchase.
Add the selected article to the cart.
Confirm.
You will need to have a PsycNET account.
If you're a first-time user, click the Not registered link.
That opens a form to create the account.
Choose a user ID.
Note the requirements for the password.
It is case sensitive, and must contain a number or special character as well as letters.
Choose and confirm an appropriate password.

Here's the HTML.
And here's the PDF.
You can search or browse directly from APA PsycNET.
You needn't set up an account to run the search.
You have the option of selecting either the Browse links for APA's full-text databases or Search.
I'll choose Search.
The platform opens to Advanced Search. You can tell by the grayed out boxes that you do not have full access to the content.
However, you can use the search tools, like Term Finder,
which provides access to the controlled language in the Thesaurus of Psychological Index Terms.
Here we use it to find information on "bullying," which we add to the search.
Drop-downs in the top section give access to fields. Below, in Only Show Content Where, you can add limits.
Some of the limits appear on the face of the platform.
You can also limit in several ways by date.
Let's do our "bullying" index term search.
Our results are sorted by database. PsycARTICLES is the default showing.
Let's pick our top result. Click the Purchase PDF link.
And follow the instructions to complete the purchase.
You will find your purchased content under the My PsycNET tab, APA PsycNET Purchases.
