Prosecutors are seeking a 20-year prison term for Unified Progressive Party lawmaker Lee
Seok-ki for conspiring to overthrow the
government. At the Suwon District Court on Monday, prosecutors
said in their closing statement the leftist lawmaker should be sentenced to 20
years in prison and demanded that he be stripped of his right to be a lawmaker for 10 years
following his release from prison. Lee is accused of leading a pro-North Korea
group called the "Revolutionary Organization," trying to overthrow the government and establishing
a socialist country. He has consistently denied the accusations.
