i actually used to do a lot of sailing when i was younger and all the sail boats ive been
on have been much smaller so thats how i will always remember it its big its pretty and
its very very comfortable.
when we first arrived in kawthaung its a real burmese port, its real burmese people, and
its bustling its chaotic, its noisy any and hot, but thats all part of the trip, thats
what you come to see, you come to see the real myanmar and thats what you get in kawthaung.
the andaman sea.
i think the mergui islands is probably the last place in asia where you still feel like
an explorer. you have this very rare opportunity to come and see what most people have never
seen. and i think that in itself, is special, its not just a holiday, its feeling a sense
of discovery, youre an explorer.
iv sailed before but never on a boat this big. i didn't know how it worked i was very
curious to see how it worked and then the whole boat tilted and the engine quieted down.
it was peaceful. it was a much more natural way to ride the waves.
Being on the water away from, all the noise just goes away. and during those first few
hours was without having to do any excursions that weve done. i was saying its already worth
it.
its very very unique seeing so many islands while your drifting around all by yourself
in the middle of the ocean. the crew, the captain theyre very capable, they give you
the impression that they know what their doing. its really cool.
the highlight of the trip for me was visiting the moken village. i didnt expect it to be
as good as it was. seeing how these people live and its a whole community of people living
out in the middle of these 800 islands in myanmar, you 'd have no idea that they were
even there. yet they live a full life. there was a whole welcome commity and all the children
had come out to see the boat, and they were all standing at the shore waving, it was such
a lovely sight i think everyone really enjoyed that experience.
The highlight moment for me was probably the beach that we went to. it just felt really
sort of the kind of beach that you would read about in magazines or see on television. That
no one had probably ever been to, it was one of those real fantasy white sand beaches,
the sand was really fine like snow or something, no one was there we had a bbq on the beach,
that was really cool, it was special.
another highlight was basically everytime i jumped in the water, because i like the
water a lot and theres plenty of it. i free dive and i snorkel, everytime we stopped, we
jumped in the water.
i knew that for almost a week, there'd be nothing else, just being on the boat enjoying
the time here, theres no internet, theres no cell phone reception, just leave your worries
behind and make the most of it.
