Why Soul Eater ?
Well, because there are few products to be derived from this serie.
I found it interesting to work with the universe
and the very peculiar drawing of the author.
We were particularly interested in the setting and the environment.
That's what really made us feel like offering a product that could belong to this environment,
knowing from the start that it was a gamble quite risky.
The stained glass window that we used as a background for the figurine came from a scene in the animation.
I immediately thought about the potential effect of using such a window.
We tried to embellish the set as best we could
by placing Maka in an action pose
and trying to emphasize all her accessories
while playing on the very interesting textures.
It is difficult to abide by the quirky style of the author.
The staging was a real challenge
and we were up to it thanks notably to the environment.
It was truly hard to work with the dark stones of the church to bring out the light,
all the while preserving the dark and saturated colors of the author.
We are rather happy with the result.
Thanks to the scythe and the wind that blows behind the cape there is a great deal of dynamism.
And some really interesting details too.
The Square Enix design is so great
with the big black and white boots which make us think of a draught board.
Just above, we can see the skirt
which required a great deal of work with its Scottish tartan pattern.
The stained glass window and its whole structure lean to give an effect of relief.
If you stand facing it, you could feel like
the statue is really about to jump out of its universe.
This is really nice and it adds depth.
And if you are a handyman, you can add a small light in the background!
