My undergraduate degree was quite general and I wanted to really hone in on the specific
skills that I needed to develop further.
The Master of Communication program is a course that students do in order to further their
careers. Many students benefit from participating in
our internship program, which is an accredited unit.
I actually started my current role as an intern, which was an opportunity that I found through
the University. Allan Briggs, our Managing Director actually came and gave a guest lecture.
I contacted Allan directly and after completing the internship, they offered me a role here.
My course allowed me to work while I was studying at the same time, which was really useful
not only from a practical perspective but because I was able to take the skills I was
learning at work and apply them to my units and vice versa.
The University and all the lecturers throughout this program, provide a very personalised
service because it is a small program and we are deeply committed to retaining our students
and our student loyalty. For most of my students, they come back and say it absolutely made
the difference between them moving from a position where they weren't quite sure what
they wanted to do as a career. If I hadn't completed my Masters I wouldn't
have had the industry connections that I now do, and I think I would have found it quite
hard to break into the communications industry.
