In this video you will learn how to create a video or movie by using iMovie for the Mac.
There are a lot of different features in iMovie but I am going to keep it simple. I am going
to show you how to upload a video, an image, add a transition, add a title and add music.
And how to export your movie and that's it. Very simple. The one thing I like to do when
I get start is to create a new project and to create a new event. You do both of those
things under the file menu. The event is where you upload your videos and pictures and do
any editing to the videos that you want. The project is where you actually put your movie
together. I have already imported one movie into my new event. And in order to do that
I went to file, import, movies. And that brought me to a list of my movies on my computer.
Let's add some images. Click the camera icon on the right hand side. You will see all of
the images on your computer. You can also drag and drop images directly from your desktop
to your project. I will add a couple images now by dragging them over. Click the camera
icon again to close that window. Click the "T" icon to add text or a title to your movie.
Drag and drop it into the project. I can give that text any color I want. I like the sparkly
night. Click in the screen where it says title text here. Add your own text. You can change
the font. Then click done. Close that window. Now I will add a couple transitions to give
my video some cool effects. This is the transition in between each picture or each title box.
Drag and drop right where you want it in between your picture and your title. For your video
you can use the entire video but if you only want a section you can click an individual
section and make it as small or as big as you want it. Once you have it exactly how
you want it the yellow box around your video drag and drop it into the project area. And
then add a transition. Then close the transition box. Next add music which is the music button
icon. You can take music from your computer and drag it and drop it in or iMovie has several
different sounds you can use. None of them are that long. Many of them are only a few
seconds each. This one is 30 seconds so let's use this one. Same thing, drag it and drop
it in. Now your movie will automatically have music timed and synced perfectly with it.
Now I will click the space bar to view my video. Once your video is exactly how you
want it go to the top and click share. And you can either export this video to your computer
or you can automatically export it to YouTube. So it saves you a step. I will click YouTube
and then I will be prompted to put in my account username and password. Then I can add a title,
description, tags and the size of the movie. And then click next and it will automatically
start uploading to YouTube. If I decide to export to my computer I will give it a name,
where I want it to be saved and what size I want the video then I will click export.
And that's how you create a simple movie in iMovie.
