Following Jesus is not about fear and duty. It is about loving Jesus. If we follow him
we love him. When we obey Jesus we do so because we love the Lord and we want to follow him.
If you love Jesus, if you truly love Jesus, you will not go and sin against him. If you
truly love Jesus you would not try and serve two masters. If you truly love Jesus you would
deny yourself and pick up your cross and follow Jesus. If you truly loved him, he would be
your all. You would live for Jesus with all of what you have. Jesus asked Peter, "Peter
do you truly love me?" Peter said, "Yes Lord". Jesus said, "Well feed my sheep if you truly
love me." Jesus said that those who love me will obey my commandments. And Jesus has something
to tell you today. He has jobs for you today. Following Jesus is about getting to know him
because you love him, then doing what he says, his commandments. Jesus said he who OBEYS
me loves me, he who keeps my commandments loves me. So you see when we just follow our
own ways, we don't love Jesus. When we just keep sinning and living in the world and don't
deny ourselves and seek his word in our life, we don't love him. When we are just religious
in church reading the bible and being guided by all these others things, we don't love
Jesus. We love Jesus when we seek to know him in prayer and we ask, "Lord what do you
want me to do today". Then you go and do it because he who loves him keeps his commandments.
Let us dedicate ourselves to the Lord today dear friends. Love the Lord if we really love
him and hear what he has to say today and obey it.
