Thousands of people around the country are addicted to gambling,
which is the reason that for the last six years
a special day was organised to counter this problem.
Today is Gamble Free Day.
Support for this cause is felt in communities throughout the country,
and according to Rangi McLean of Hapai Te Hauora Tapui,
awareness could go a long way to addressing this issue.
By communicating with people face to face,
by putting up banners,
it will help people with their gambling addictions.
In addition to that,
Hapai Te Hauora Tapui says although many councils
are adopting the sinking lid policy,
there are still far too many gaming machines in poor suburbs.
