On behalf of ExpertVillage.com, my name is Michael Sohaski, and I'm here to tell you
about reading the board and the players. It has been said, that half of the game is actually
reading the players. And there is a lot of truth to that, because certain players play
in particular ways. Some people are aggressive, some people are passive and there is the added
matter of the cards. So let's have a look here. Initially, you are playing your cards.
You look at your cards and you can either, bet, raise, or fold. Also, you can be playing
the other players, too. If you are on the button which is the position immediately before
the small blind, it may not matter what you have, you may come in for a raise. Also, when
the cards are dealt, you can again, play either the players or the cards. Let's look at the
flop. Here is the flop. We have five players involved in this pot. As it turns out, I have
an excellent hand. I have a flush, indeed, with the ace. It is called the nut flush.
In this case, I can do one of two things. I can bet strongly, or I can allow the more
aggressive players at the table to do my betting for me.
