Hi everyone! Special video today
I wont present a fight or an event, i'll present the lastest patch 1.18 from Final Fantasy XIV
And i'll tell you what i think about it
I'll speak of everything but the news instencied Dungeons they added with this patch
For these, i'll do a video for each dungeons like the video i usualy do
One of the new thing they added are the Grand Company
It look a little like what they did in the 4th Addon of FFXI, Wings of the Goddess
For the military group in the city
You can do quest that give you points, you can exchange them for items
I'm going to show you what kind of items you can buy with these points
There's a lot of potions, i think it's great because untill then, Potions weren't used much in Final Fantasy XIV
There was a few potion available but it was really rare so nobody used them
To be a member in the Grand Company, you'll have to do a quest
It's simple quest with a senario, where you'll have to go from point A to B, a fight monster
I'm going to show you a short previews of the quest to get in Gridania's Grand Company
You'll need to go in a village that wasn't used, since when they released the game, there was a few village a little everywhere in the world
But they weren't used, so it's great that now we have reason to go there
And the quest will end with a fight
It was good because it was easy and fast, and we have access to the new dungeons after that
And it's great because we'll always have something to win with these quest even with max level, unlike normal quest
About the change made to area
One of the main change is the music in a few area, mostly Gridania's Forest, it's really awesome
it's the song you've heard at the begining of the video, and it's the music playing now
We also have what Square-Enix call "mini-settlements"
It's some kind of Outpost that we can find in the world
Square-Enix said it'll be used to do quest
Currently there's not much to do since none of the quest are available
But we can hope that in the futur it'll be a place to do Experience point
Or maybe add a event like Campagn Battle from Final Fantasy XI
Since there's also enemy mini-settlements with monster that'll attack you, so you wont be able to visit them
I visisted all of these mini-settlements, i'm going to present them one by one
But like i said earlier there's not much to do
We have first the "Red Rooster Stead"
This mini-settlements is near Bloodshore, currently there's only a few NPC we can talk with, but they wont say anything interesting
After we have "The Coffer & Coffin"
It's near Horizons
we can see a chocobo here, so maybe in the futur, we'll be able to get Chocobo from these mini-settlements
Sicne we should have access to chocobo in the next update
The next mini-settlements is Buscarron's Fold
This one is just on the road for the Tranquill Paths
Near the Camp Bald Knoll, There's a mini-settlements called Halfstone
Not much to see neither here
There's the "Mythril Pit T-8" near Halatali
There's also lot of NPC, but they aren't used yet
The last mini-settlements is called The Hawthorne Hut
This is all for the allied mini-settlements, now for the enemy mini-settlements
There's 2 mini-settlements near Iron Lake
There's lot of enemy and they'll attack you if they see you
I don't know what happen if we attack them, but it can be really insteresting if they add quest
that'll ask us to attack or defend a mini-settlements, that can be really great
There's also 2 mini-settlements near the Allied mini-settlement in halatali
Since these mini-settlements are really close to each other, i hope Square-Enix will do something really interesting with them
There's a Ixtali mini-settlements in the forest near Gridania
It's the last enemy mini-settlements near the main City
The last mini-settlement is in Coerthas
Once again i'm not sure what they're for, maybe something happen if you kill all monster from these mini-settlements
We'll need to try! That's it for Mini-settlements
About the change in the teleport, they changed the Returns function, now it doesn't cost Anima anymore
But the downside is everytime you're using it, we'll have to wait 15 minutes before we can use it again
It's really nice but it would be better if we could choose our HomePoint, like in Final Fantasy XI, and not just come back at the last Aetheryte we touched
About the change they made the battle systems, one of the new thing is the change made to the leve
They deleted the Exp Bonus we used to get when we did leve in Party
It's a really big change because untill now, Leve were quest made to be done in party
But from now it'll be more solo quest
We have a Bonus when we finish the leve
I haven't done lot of test yet, but apparently we'd get more Experience point while doing grind
It mean to farm mob like we used to in Final Fantasy XI
than doing leve
So it's probably not well balanced yet, but i think it's great that they want leve to be done in solo
It'll mean that'll be able to do Exp in Solo, because untill now in the game
Even though they announced we could Exp in Solo, after level 30, it wasn't possible since we'd get so less Exp than if we were in party
I think that's great if we wont "need" a group to do Exp
But it probably need more adjustement
There was also change on the repair systeme
They might went a little too far by changing every items that was used for repair
By what they call "Dark Matter", i must admit i never was fan of the repair systeme in the game
But they might made it too easy now
Another change is that they added a level restriction to equip a few armor
I think that's great because i never understood why SE allowed us to equip armor without having the correct level
A level 1 player can use for exemple level 50 armor, but he wont get access to the armor's stats
I didn't see the point, so it's good that they're making it more like Final Fantasy XI where you had to have the correct level to equip an armor
About the battle systems, the big new here is the Auto-Attack
They also deleted the Stamina bar, it was a little like ATB in oldest FF
The battle systems is a little more classic now, a little like in Final Fantasy XI
Our character attack alone, and all we have to do is to choose our Ability and Magic
The Ability we used to use to do normal attack before, were either deleted, or changed into normal Ability like the one from the Conjurer
The change on the job were really high, lot of people were disapointed
Some job had their purpose change in party like the Conjurer
I leveled Conjurer because i wanted to be a Black Mage like in Final Fantasy XI
But since this update, Conjurer seems to be the main healer now
Untill now, Healing spell could be use either as single target
So they'd heal only one player, or you could use them as AoE, where they'd hit everyone in range from your target
But this was changed and now healing spell work like in Final Fantasy XI
Now we have Cure spell that'll only heal one player, and you also have Curaga spell that'll heal all player in range
I can understand that people would be mad because i also, like i said, leveled Conjurer to be a Black Mage
And now i'm more a White Mage, but i think it's great that job have now one main role to play
As Conjurer being the healer and other job having a role to do, but that they can't do all role at the same time
So i'm happy with the job but i can understand people who aren't
About the change made to the UI, we have a new menu configuration
It was totally remade, now we can for exemple change the cursor we have when we target something
We now also can choose our Targeting type that was added in the last page, they're now in the configuration menu
Another big new is the icons that show us how much enmity we have when fighting a mob
You'll find a icons next to his name, when it's green it mean that we don't have a lot of enmity
And when it become Red, it mean that you got the aggro
Another big change for the jobs was the MP cost for healing spell
It's a big change because until now, MP never was a problem in the game, but now you'll need to manage them a little like in Final Fantasy XI
We need to be careful not to waste them
This is pretty much all change the game had since the last update
If you stopped the game and wanted to see how it became, this is change we had in the last patch
So you may want or don't want to play it again, i still think the game isn't finished yet
