>> [Background Music] my name is Robert Orszulik.
And I'm a graduate of the Mental Health Nursing Certificate
Program at Mohawk College.

I'm working currently as an RPN
at St. Joseph's Hospital specifically
in the nine tower acute mental health unit.
I really enjoy working with my patients who are
in a really difficult part of their lives.
Suffering from severe mental illness.
So being able to be part of a team that helps them
and gets them back on to a normal footing as far
as their mental health is concerned,
I really, really enjoy.

Well, what I found was that the Mental Health Nursing
Certificate Program was a great way for me
to continue my educational efforts further
to the RPN program at Mohawk.
And it also complemented the work experience
that I was doing here at St. Joseph's.

This was a second career for me in nursing.
What I was able to do is go back to work.
I was in business and marketing before.
So going into nursing is quite a change for me.
I took the RPN program at Mohawk College.
And then at the very end I was able to get a job as an RPN here
at St. Joseph's Hospital.

The thing that really impressed me the most about the program
at Mohawk was the teachers who were able to assist me.
And provide me with excellent feedback and able
to make me a much better student and a much better nurse.

I'd say the best thing to do is to talk to your manager,
your nursing educator, and also the other nurses that you work
with to make the best possible choices as far
as your educational decisions are concerned.
