MARIA: I'm Maria Nadal and I'm a junior and this is my fourth year with University of Nebraska
and I'd like to be a mechanical engineer.
Last year when I was 14, I started dual enrolling at Northwood University and so I'm taking my high school
classes but I've also been able to take a lot of basic college classes.
LYNETTE: Maria's a gifted student and I wanted her to be academically challenged.
The rigors of the University of Nebraska program offered her an opportunity to have a flexible schedule,
pursue her sports and dual enroll at the local community college as well.
MARIA: You can move as fast as you want.
And, like, I didn't realize how fast I could learn until I did these classes with the University of Nebraska.
CAROLYN: Our program is rigorous because we are preparing students to go to college.
ALAN: I've been involved in college admissions for over 30 years and I can honestly say that our
Independent Study High School graduates, their credentials stack up with the best schools in the country.
LYNETTE: Other options in that area of online education I don't believe offers the rigors that the University of Nebraska does.
I don't believe that she would have been college-ready at such a young age.
MARIA: There's a lot of flexibility and you're always challenged to learn new things.
It allows you to reach your full potential academically.
