Welcome to G-TV. Today I will be showing you Mersen’s H and R series of Fuse blocks.
Mersen, formerly known as Ferraz Shawmut, class H and R Fuse Blocks accommodate all
Class H and R 250 and 600V power fuses. Class H fuses are cartridge fuses and are intended
for general purpose branch circuit, lighting circuit, and the protection of non-inductive
equipment like electric ovens and resistance heaters. Galco has available renewable and
non-renewable Class H fuses. The renewable fuses allow the user to replace the internal
fusible link after the fuse operates. It is important to note that the minimal 10 kiloAmps
interrupting rating is low and could be easily exceed in an industrial plant or commercial
building. For higher demand applications, the non-renewable Class R fuses have a 200
kiloamps interrupting rating. Class R fuses could be designated as “Current Limiting”
or “Time Delay”. The Fluse blocks have a choice of screw, pressure plate, box and
special order stud connectors to fit a wide range of stranded or solid copper or aluminum
wire. Insulators are either molded glass-filled polycarbonate or phenolic with verified dielectric
strength in excess of 2500V. The 30, 60 and 100A fuse blocks feature a unique adder block
which can be snapped onto 1-, 2- or 3-pole blocks to form multi-pole segmented blocks
of as many poles as desired. All fuse clips are made of high conductivity tin-plated copper,
with a choice of spring reinforced or non-spring reinforced clips in 30A and 60A. Clips 100A
and above are spring reinforced. All fuse blocks meet the requirements of UL Std. 512.
