If you're looking for a sweet and nutty dessert
or just a special snack treat, we've got the recipe for you.
Our blackberry-pecan squares have a buttery toffee flavor,
enhanced by toasted pecans.
And it's all complimented by the wonderful taste of blackberries.
First, grease an 8 inch square baking pan with butter and set aside.
Stir together flour, soda and salt.
Cream butter and sugar with a mixer about 3 minutes until fluffy.
Add eggs and vanilla and beat.
Continue to beat slowly, adding in the flour mixture until combined.
Gradually add 3/4 cup toasted pecans and mix.
Then spread the batter in a pan.
Sprinkle berries on top, and scatter on remaining nuts.
Bake at 325 degrees for 50 to 55 minutes.
Let it cool for 30 minutes and sprinkle with powdered sugar.
Cut into squares and serve.
Getting out on a summer morning to pick blackberries is a refreshing experience,
especially when you know everyone will relish
the sweet berry flavors in blackberry pecan squares.
