So my name is Blake Neuburg and I am a junior Biochemistry Pre Med major here at UW-Milwaukee.
I'm from Green Bay, and a little bit north of Green Bay and I thought when I was in high
school it was really hard to get experience in to kind of the healthcare field without
having some sort of degree or you know, some sort of license to get that . So I went ahead
and got my EMT basic license when I was in high school. Most of the people I looked up
to when I was younger were in healthcare in some capacity. Grandmother's a nurse, step
father's an EMT. One of my childhood idols is oncologists. I think that is a big part
of why I want to become a rural physician is that I believe it's a perfect marriage
between science and need and then close to home. Here in Dr. Chang's lab I kind of found
a home in doing research finding possible novel antibiotic and anti cancer compounds.
After that there was absolutely no way I was leaving UW-Milwaukee. I definitely have made
it home.
