How will we take a shower in the future?
Good day.
Could I take a shower, please? -What's wrong with you?
What do you think?
Good day. -I've a bit of a cheeky question.
Do you think I could take a shower?
I have brought my own towel, so. -All right, come on in.
Lovely.
That was a nice shower, but a bit old-fashioned.
It's not very sustainable.
Did you know that your shower will be more sustainable as of 2018?
It's quite simple, really.
To produce petrol, diesel and kerosene
Shell heats crude oil up to 700 degrees in Pernis.
This process ends with heat that's suitable to heat Rotterdam homes with.
This heat is called residual heat.
Warmtebedrijf Rotterdam uses the factory's heat
to heat up water to 120 degrees.
This water will be used to heat 16,000 homes
and as warm water for the shower and bath. So you won't need a boiler for it.
Together you'll reduce CO2 emission. -I'll be a green Rotterdammer, after all.
In the future, we'll use our energy in smarter ways and we won't even notice it.
in 2018, 16,000 Rotterdam households will be heated
with residual heat from Shell Pernis
and a boiler won't be necessary anymore
