Welcome to the University of Nottingham Jubilee campus.
My name's Emma and I'm going to be showing you around.
This campus is home to our Business School, Contemporary Chinese Studies,
Education, Computer Science and the International Office.
There's also Geospatial Science and more on the way in the future.
This is a great campus to be based on, it really is a state of the art facility. These
lakes actually heat and cool the buildings surrounding, and the roofs have grass on top
for insulation. There's a real focus on being environmentally friendly and being surrounded
by all these brand new buildings make living on this campusa stimulating and exciting experience.
During your first year you'll either live in catered Halls of Residence,
on campus like these, or in one of the three student villages with self-catering accommodation
located nearby. There's a great sense of community wherever you live. You'll meet so many people
and make loads of new friends.
The building I'm in right now is called the Exchange; the central hub of
the Jubilee campus. There's a cafe here which is a great place to spend time with friends.
You'll also find a Blackwell's book shop, a bank and a Students' Union shop.
Our Students' Union is one of the largest and most active in the UK.
There are over 33,000 student members, and over 250 societies and sports clubs.
You can get involved in almost anything, from belly dancing to
Quidditch, and from chocolate appreciation to Law.
You're bound to meet people who share similar interests as you and you'll probably discover
a lot of new activities as well.
Behind me is the Djanogly Learning Resource Centre, the main library on
this campus. It's got really modern facilities making it a great place to spend time studying,
whether you're on your own, or working as part of a team.
It's also open 24/7 around exam time.
One of the best things about the Jubilee campus is that it has its own sports centre. Again,
there's something for everyone here. You can go to the gym,
take part in a friendly game of badminton, five-a-side football, or maybe even take part
in a Yoga class. You can even get involved in one of the University's
own sports teams in competition, or just have fun and meet new people.
International House is home to the University's International Office, which offer advice and
support to students from outside the UK.
They can help with everything from settling in, to opening a bank account, and studying
and work placements abroad.
We're about a mile away from the University Park campus making it easy to make use of
the facilities there as well. There are regular Hopper buses between all the campuses and
the city centre, which is only 10 minutes away.
In Nottingham itself, there is amazing shopping, restaurants, bars and cinemas.
Everything you'd expect from a buzzing student city.
So we hope you've seen that the Jubilee campus really is an excellent place to be. There's
a friendly vibe, great facilities, distinctive spaces and you're surrounded by the most unique
buildings. It's also very well connected to the rest of the University, and to Nottingham itself.
To really get a feel for the campus though the best thing you can do is visit and see for yourself.
