>> NARRATOR: Pride: it can be used against or for us. And in the face of adversity.
We discover something about ourselves.
Meet Bob. At 51-years-old, Bob suffered two strokes within three months.
He lost much
of the feeling in his right side. He lost his voice. He lost his independence.
Bob learned something about himself. It would take gradual steps,
leading to gradual gains.
Giving up for Bob was not an option.
Other people would play a role.
They acknowledged his efforts and rallied him forward.
He knew he had more to live for, more to experience.
Seventeen years later, Bob still seeks to improve. He expects more of himself and inspires
others to do the same because, ironically, pride is something bigger than ourselves.
It's something that helps perpetuate us all despite all adversity and continue to push
to be better.
