Human rights activists condemned that the political police organized a cultural activity.
On Tuesday, the political police took members of the paramilitary
Fast Response brigades to the central park in Havana,
to impede them from meeting together.
We sat there in the park, trying again to occupy our space and occupy the space
that corresponds to us; that they had taken away.
We were all there at the park.
The entire park was besieged by the State security,
the police and all that. There were Rapid Response units.
And we were there for a while and we had to leave
because they were there harassing some people
who were drunk, who were doing activities;
and if we had not left from there,
they could have used the Fast Response brigades and physically assaulted us.
Four of the event organizers, whom are now free,
were detained by agents of the Department of State Security,
political police, and taken to the Fourth Unit
of the Revolutionary National Police in the municipality of Cerro.
Many colleagues were not able to arrive and many were detained and arrested.
And we were there fighting, because we also have the right to occupy our place.
Also, all of the ones that were not able to arrive
is because the police detained and arrested them.
Among the activists detained in the central park were:
Rafael Gonzalez Ruiz, Joel Jimenez Cabrera,
Pavel Hernandez Hern?ndez and Geovanni Torres Saldivar.
Last week, the political police also conducted operations
and organized acts of repudiation against activists
who were found gathering in the home of the activist Andres Suarez,
located in the municipality of San Miguel del Padron.
