Good morning, it is rise and shine time. I slept aboard Fjord Star last night, and as
you can see the hatch behind me is closed because it is raining. So I haven't pushed
back from the dock yet. Hopefully it's only going to rain for about another hour and then
let up and we'll be able to cast off. So for now the hatch is closed and just going to
do some cleaning and scrubbing inside the cabin. Let's see if you can see outside the
windows here. Let's do a little magic [zooming sound effect]. So that's what it looks like
outside - kind of gloomy, kind of yucky. That's what it looks like inside - so much better.
Let's see - that is where I slept last night. Back there where that cuddly blanket is. Not
so cuddly. No cushions. We threw out the cushions when I bought the boat. They were 35 years
old and smelly. So I thought that I brought the fleecy blanket back there for some padding
which would have been great, and I thought that I brought another blanket comforter thing
that would have been like a sleeping bag, which would have also been great. Didn't bring
it. So I ended up using my sleeping pad blanket as a blanket and sleeping on hard fiberglass.
Great night, great night. But I'm not giving up, only have one more night and shouldn't
be too bad. It got down to about 50 degrees last night and there's no heat in the boat.
So - little nippy, little nippy. I do have shore power though, so there's my iPad charging
up over there. My iPhone has a full charge. Could have brought a heater - didn't. So maybe
next time. I am kind of hoping to come out in December and it'll be a little colder by
then. So maybe then I'll be smart enough to bring a heater. Otherwise, everything is pretty
ship shape. I've got one little water leak. I don't know if you can see it over there.
Can you see it? Leak. Let's wait for it. There it goes. It's pretty much the only one. Not
bad for a 35 year old boat to have one little leak - oh, I've got two. There's one up there.
You can see where the - can you see that - where the bench is getting wet. Still not bad. So
those are easy enough to fix. A little caulking and some paper towels will fix that up in
a jiffy. So I'll check in later. I'm going to eat my Captain's buffet, consisting of
poppy seed muffins, pineapple and some Gatorade. That's what the Captain eats. So see you guys
later. Hopefully we'll cast off in about an hour, we'll see.
