Hello my name is Patrick McMenamin the owner of Caledonia Bar here in Budapest and I'm
here on behalf of Expert Village to talk about whiskey and particular Scotch whiskey. Whiskey
should always be kept in a cool dry place and served if your serving at home than you
can serve it in whatever measure you want. But traditionally your guest should then be
offered the choice of adding water or not and if they're really want then you can also
offer them some ice. Whiskey can also serves often suggest a little touch of water and
it does bring out the flavor of the whiskey, and ice is very much a personal choice. My
personal view you should not add ice to the whiskey cause it simply adds more water to
the whiskey than you really ought to add, if you do add water you should just add just
about the same again as the whiskey, if not slightly less just to bring out the flavor.
Adding ice just adds more water and also I think makes the whiskey very cold which it
reduces the taste of the whiskey, so my personal view is that whiskey on it's own and odd indeed
with a little touch of water just to bring out the flavor but, not coca cola or nothing
else.
