I'm going to show you how to fix a problem where you have the headphone jack
making a scratchy static noise as the plug moves around.
On this one I'll get that static scratchy noise.
It will actually drop out a little bit. I'll move the plug and it will come back.
But I am going to show you how to fix that. The problem is the contacts inside the jack
get dirty and oxidized so what we need do is clean the those.
What I am going to do to clean those is use a q-tip
and I'm actually going to peel a little bit of the cotton off the tip here cuz there's just
too much there to go inside the hole there.
Peel a little bit off. And so now you are going use some sort of a cleaner.
A lot people recommend alcohol and I have tried alcohol
and he worked for a little bit but then the problem came back
very quickly. So I switched to using
control contact cleaner and lubricannt. I use this for cleaning potentiometers
or volume controls. But
this, I found this worked very well also on the jacks.
So what you are going to do is take a little bit of the spray.
You gotta shake it around a little bit here. And spray it onto the Q-tip.
And then swirl it around a little bit because you don't have too much on there.
And go ahead and stick it in the hole and go ahead and
swirl it around. You may have to move it in and out a little bit.
And then while you're at it go ahead and rub a little bit around on the plug and get that
all kind of cleaned up.
and
then go ahead and let it dry. You may want to blow on it a little bit. But
that should take care of your problem. It will clean the contacts in there and the static
in scratchy noise should go away.
If it doesn't go away you might still have a a little bit of dirt or oxidation, so just go ahead and
repeat the
process once. If the problem still doesnb't go away
then it is possible you might have like a wire break inside the plug or the wire.
Or you may have a I lose connection
in the Jack itself where it connects to the circuit board in there.
But nine times out of ten this
should fix your problem with the scratchy static noise. Good luck!
