Hello and welcome to ActiveLearn, a new online homework and revision resource that provides
a motivating and supportive environment where your students can improve their learning.
ActiveLearn offers a completely new way of delivering online student learning by providing
a unique approach to self-study that really encourages progression.
Students can access activities and learning materials specifically written for their Edexcel
French GCSE Course whenever they need to, by simply logging in to the ActiveLearn website.
The student homepage provides students with a personalised dashboard which allows them
to quickly navigate the resources and keep up to date with information relevant to their
course.
From their homepage, students can use the Newsfeed to track messages and assignment
feedback set by their teacher.
To help motivate students and build confidence, they are rewarded for their achievements and
can track their progress via the achievements panel.
To make it easy for students to access each of the learning opportunities, their home
screen provides direct links to assignments and homework set by their teacher, plus independent
practice and revision opportunities accessible via the chapters from their course.
ActiveLearn for French provides a variety of exercises for students to tackle aimed
at Core and Extension levels. In each module there are reading and listening exercises
in the style of the exam which provides targeted feedback that supports learning.
To carry out an assignment set by their teachers, students simply click on the assignment name
from their homepage.
Once students have opened an assignment, the hint icon provides the student with the support
they need to clearly understand the question and helps build their confidence.
Students can also access a range of additional resources to support their understanding and
learning: such as Word document, PowerPoint and the relevant page of the Pearson student
book for this course.
Direct feedback on specific parts of the question, tells the student why their answer was correct
or guides them if they were wrong, helping them to progress and move on.
The grammar activities help build up the learner’s knowledge and confidence to prepare them for
the end of module grammar tests.
Vocabulary is a key element of learning a language and in ActiveLearn we provide banks
of words that can be learned and tested throughout the course either independently or set by
the teacher.
ActiveLearn also helps students build the skills required for controlled assessments.
This type of activity guides the learner step-by-step through a series of activities which will
help them identify the key components of creating a piece of writing or a spoken presentation.
The student is first required to analyse an example of a controlled assessment through
the use of highlighting tools. The next task is for the student to prepare their own work.
Once they are happy with their work, they can compare it against another sample and
use a variety of checklists to mark their submission.
ActiveLearn provides fantastic features for teachers too:
You can quickly and easily set assignments using simple drop down facilities on the assignments
screen.
You can track students’ performance against their target grade with a traffic light system
that helps you keep track of their development as they tackle assignments and practice.
You can monitor your students’ performance and keep track of their progress with ActiveLearn’s
easy to use reporting tools. Four types of report are provided, allowing you to see how
a group of students are performing and also enabling you to delve deeper and truly identify
areas of strengths and weaknesses for particular students.
ActiveLearn offers a completely new way of delivering online student learning. To find
