You watched us design and build this house in 150 days, but the work is far from over.
We're about to jump into my favorite part of the process of bringing all this together.
Join me for an exclusive look right here on eHow Home. I'm in one of the many warehouses
and workshops at the Paul Michael Company. And when I arrived here, I had this idea for
a headboard for the master bedroom. Sort of a Victorian, I think it was probably Renaissance
Revival mantle piece, had a place for mirror in it. I'd seen photographs of it and I thought,
you know, that would be really cool -- kind of Gothic Revival-esque. And, anyway, when
I got here, the scale of it just seemed a little small. But Paul had an idea, wanted
to bring me upstairs here, and he showed me this beautiful, old Gothic piece. Looks like
it's made of Gum or maybe Poplar. And, you know, I really like the look of it. I think
it could make a fantastic headboard and perfect for this farmhouse chic look that we're going
after. It's got a lovely patina on it. You know, I like the scale of it. I love the classic
form of it. I think it's proportions are really good. I'm just a little concerned about the
color because the walls in that room are sort of a beige brown, and there might not be enough
contrast. So, I think, what we might do is experiment with lightening this, maybe with
a white milk paint or just a white wash on this to lighten it up. I would want some of
this grain to show because the grain is really quite beautiful on these curved boards. And,
you know, since it's double sided, the same on either side, we could do one one way and
leave the other and see how it looks. Of course, I guess it would be nice if it were heavier
-- yeah, right. What we're gonna have to do is actually mount this to the wall, and then
we'll attach the bed frame of which the box springs and the mattress will rest upon. So
that's the way we'll have to attach this puppy. Hey, if you're enjoying these updates on the
interior of the house and how it's all coming together, check in with us regularly. We got
a lot in store for you. And make sure you subscribe to eHow Home. Well this thing is
a colossus.
