Hi, my name is Nathaniell. And this
is One More Cup of Coffee where we
talk about online business making
money on the internet. And financial independence.
Today's day 13 of the video series where I teach you how to build a
profitiable website on the internet for free, and
we're going to get started with blog posting today.
So last time I left you was three days ago and we created three cornerstone pages.
I put those up, I'll show you those in just a second
[MUSIC]
But what you need to do before you go ahead with this
video is to write a 400 word blog post on your niche topic.
Now if you know anything about affiliate marketing or SEO, And
you're probably thinking, well, do I need to think about a keyword?
And the answer is, no, not for the first post.
Really, right now, it's not practical or it's
not realistic to think that your very first post is going to get indexed
very well in Google. So, I think this first time, because our blog
is so new and because you're new to blogging, I think our first post is best.
Spent doing either like a kind of introduction or doing some
kind of launch post, where you talk about launching the site.
Or, something that's
more in general about your niche.
So, one thing I, I did kind of struggle with this
post, is thinking of something to write about, because I didn't want
to target a key word, but I already covered the about
me and The home page was just kind of about this site.
So I did kinda struggle for content.
So that's okay if you do as well. Hopefully you've sh-, you've chosen a niche
that you know something about.
And, that you can at least have some ideas about.
And even if it took a while to get out those.
400 words, writing content does get a lot easier.
Part of the challenges I faced with this site
is one I chose a niche that I'm not particularly
passionate about, two I chose something that in my opinion
there's not a whole lot you can say about chairs.
And I guess maybe just those two things.
But actually, you know, now that I think about it It's
not that bad because it depends on how you spin it.
I think if I was more into home decorating and what
not I could probably write a lot better posts about this topic.
So, that just goes to show you that you need to
pick something that you're, you're a least a little bit into.
Now part of the reason that I chose this site is that I
like the keywords and I think it'll be easy to For them, but this
is just a guess. And so that's the challenge everyone faces.
You do your research and you have your ideas and then sometimes halfway through
you realize, oh well my theory or my thoughts were, were kind of erroneous
[INAUDIBLE]
They weren't a 100% correct.
But we're gonna go ahead with it and go with it.
The point is that the concepts are still valid of how to build
a site so I'm sure you'll run into your own challenges along the way.
So once you've got that written up and you're ready to post.
We're gonna Copy.
[MUSIC]
Gonna go to our post area, add new. And it's pretty much just like making a page.
You paste your content in there, create a title, doesn't have to be a
genius title or a genius paragraph, we're just getting started here.
Then do the correct spacing and the pictures as normal.
So I'm gonna talk a bit about
categories and tags. So categories are going to be the
three to five broad concepts that run through your site.
So these are gonna be very broad and you don't want Very many.
So I'mma add a new category called Blog. And then I'mma
use that for general post, so it don't really have a lot to
do with chairs.
Then, I'm gonna add a new category called Cheap stuff and sales.
Okay. So this is just how I'm designing my blog.
You know, you don't have to use the exact category style I have.
But, I'm gonna put this blog post in blog because it's not exactly about a chair.
And I'm gonna use these categories, broad categories, categories for whatever
chair I feature.
And tags are kind of like categories but they're a little bit more specific, so,
if you have 1 category for a post, you can have 2 or 3 tags.
Some people go crazy and put tons, 10-15 tags.
I used to do that, I don't think it's really going to help your site get.
[MUSIC]
Any sort of advantage by trying to rank for more tags I think if if used in this way that
you just have 2 or 3 tags it can be a good way to organize your posts in the future.
Otherwise tags are not going to play a whole
lot in how how your site gets ranked in Google.
Evident if you want to put multiple tags in at once you can just put a comma and then.
[MUSIC]
You can type in.
We're going to go with general information and decoration.
For all I want an seo pack.
I'm going to copy this title and put it in there and then your description,
i can't remember if I told you guys about this it's all one seo pack here.
This description is going to tell Google what you want to see in the results.
[MUSIC].
yes. I did talk about that.
So, remember, about 130 characters.
So I'm gonna type this out. Okay?
Nice and concise.
Summarize the post, camel case it. And you're good to go.
So I'm gonna add a picture.
Hi guys. I was just looking for pictures here.
And I noticed what some people are doing is they're leaving a note.
[MUSIC]
On these creative comments saying, I used your picture in my blog.
So you might want to think about doing that.
I have not been doing that.
What I've been doing is, over here, you can see Some rights reserved.
And if you click on that,
[MUSIC]
It says you are free to do whatever.
So, we can share, copy, distribute, or transmit the work, adapt the work.
And to make commercial use of the work. So we are cool.
Using this. Okay so we've got our writing done.
We've got our pictures in. We've got categories, tags and
[INAUDIBLE]
done. So we're done.
We're ready to publish.
I'm gonna go ahead and publish this. Then to see
what it looks like you
can open it up here.
[MUSIC]
Looks pretty good.
Another thing you might want to consider is, if you go to appearance
and widgets, you can now add a recent posts widget to your side bar
and that way people can see what's going on in your recent post area.
Okay, as usual, if you found the video useful, like it,
if you want to get notified when I post.
