In a bid to reunify the long-divided island Cyprus, Turkish and Greek negotiators made
simultaneous exchange visits to Athens and Ankara on Thursday.
The high-level peace negotiations are the first in almost two years.
No press were allowed in the meeting, but a Turkish newspaper quotes an official as
saying the talks were a positive start. Cyprus was divided in 1974, with the Greek
Cypriot south and the Turkish Cypriot north,.. when Turkey sent in military forces following
a Greek-inspired coup, which sought to unite the island with Greece.
