My name is Hilari Holt and I'm a member of the Chancellor's Student Leadership Team.
I grew up in Kansas City and Independence.
I went to Kansas City School District from kindergarten 'til third grade
then moved to Independence from third grade 'til I graduated
from Harry S. Truman High School.
Apart from being the secretary of Student Ambassadors here at MCC-Penn Valley,
I'm also in Phi Theta Kappa, as well as being on the Dean's List.
Uhm, in 2011 I was awarded the MCCA Leadership for a Student for Penn Valley
and in spring convocation of 2012 I was honored
with Outstanding Contribution to the College for a student, uhm, at MCC-Penn Valley.
I joined the Chancellor's Student Leadership Team from being a student leader myself.
The top lesson I've learned from being a member of this team
is being a voice for the students who don't know who to go to
or how to get in contact with someone to talk about something
that they don't agree with functioning-wise or, uhm, just something that's bothering them.
I am in the Apparel and Textile Program for Product Development or for Fashion Design.
My favorite class has been all the apparel and textile classes since that is my degree
but the fashion illustration class with Mr. Barry Kennedy,
it's just helped me get, uh, ideas that I've had in my head out on paper
so I can sleep at night and just get it out there.
My plans after I graduate from MCC are either to go to K-State or Stephens
if my modeling that I'm doing currently doesn't work out, I'm giving myself a year to decide.
My name is Hilari Holt and because of my experience at MCC
I've been able to make a complete 180 since graduating high school in 2010,
being more outgoing, and I have been given from faculty and staff
been given the drive to be successful academically
and also achieving my childhood dream of modeling and taking it further from there.
