>> Accounting and Finance is a Bachelor’s Degree in which in the first year students
do general introductory units. But in their second year, students specialise into various
streams. For example, students can do a BA in Accounting and Finance, in Accounting and
Taxation, Accounting and Business. They can also do a BA in Economics or Finance and Economics.
>> I’d say that the structure of the course offered definitely helps when trying to find
a career after the course is finished. Especially the option of doing a placement, which allows
you to get real business experience whilst still an undergraduate. In my placement year
I’m working at IBM as a Revenue Analyst for the software part of the business. In
this role I am required to produce various reports, analysing different revenue trends.
I am enjoying my placement; it’s going really well so far.
>> I’m doing my placement at Disney. My specific role is Finance Analyst for Disney
stores. It is such a great role because you get to implement all the ideas that you learnt
at Uni into work and it’s a great way to get hands on experience of what you’ll be
doing after you graduate. I’m really enjoying it; it’s such a great company to work for.
>> The University has got a working relationship with a number of high profile employers amongst
other local employers as well. Each year the Business School offers placements of about
1,200 students. We find that these placement years and the success of them leads to much
higher levels of employability amongst our students. And Bournemouth University has been
very successful in achieving high employability rates from this course.
>> After completing the Accounting and Finance course at Bournemouth University, you are
able to go into a wide range of careers from auditing to financial reporting and even the
banking industry. And the course gives you exemptions from professional exams such as
the ACCA.
>> I think students should study at Bournemouth University first of all because of the academics
and employee prospects at the end of your course and when you incorporate a placement
year, it is so great.
