Hello and welcome to the GoRev “Adding Patient Insurance” Tutorial.
In this tutorial, we will focus on the step-by-step instructions involved with adding patient
insurance in GoRev.
Patient insurance can be added to a patient’s account in two ways.
First, insurance may be added to a patient’s account during the creation of a New Visit.
If you have not or do not know how to create a New Visit for a patient, please see the
New Visit Tutorial linked in the description box below.
To begin, click on the “Add Payer” button located in the upper right portion of the
Patient Payer Information window.
The Patient Insurance window should, now, be present on your screen.
In this window, you will be able to enter the Plan Name, Carrier Name, Member ID, Group ID,
and Insurance Address.
Note Fields followed by an asterisk are required in order to successfully add insurance to
a patient’s account.
First, begin, by entering the Plan Name into the field provided.
Next, select the appropriate Carrier Name by clicking on the drop-down button in this field
At this point, a drop-down menu should be visible on your screen.
Please select the appropriate Carrier Name from the list.
Now, enter the patient’s Member ID, Group ID, and the Insurance Address into the fields provided
In order to enter the Insurance phone number, its effective date, and its expiration date,
begin by clicking on the “Show More” link present in the bottom right corner of the
Primary section of this window.
At this point, the Optional Fields window should be visible.
Please enter the insurance phone number into the field provided.
Next, enter the insurance Effective Date and Expiration Date using the drop-down menus
in the corresponding fields in this window.
After entering this information, please inspect the information for accuracy and completion.
Note While the Group ID, Insurance Phone Number, the Effective Date, and the Expiration Date
are optional fields, please enter all of the information that you have regarding a patient’s
insurance, as this will allow for smooth processing of patient accounts.
In the event that the insured is not the patient, please click on the “Insured is not Patient”
box in the bottom left corner of the Primary area of this window.
The Insured Information area should, now, be present on your device.
To continue, please enter the insured’s information into the corresponding fields
in this area.
Once you are finished, please review the entered information for accuracy and completion.
Note In the event that the Insured is the same as the Guarantor, please click on the
“Same as Guarantor” box located in the top right corner of the Insured Information area
At this point, the Guarantor’s information should be auto-filled into the Insured Information fields provided.
If you require assistance in determining the guarantor for this patient account, please
see the” New Visit Tutorial” linked in the description box below.
In order to add a Secondary Insurance to a patient’s account, please click on the
"Add Payer” button in the Patient Insurance area of this window.
The Secondary insurance area should be visible.
Please follow the steps detailed earlier in this video to successfully add the
insurance plan to the patient’s account.
Note In the event that a patient has more than two active insurance plans, please use
the “Add Payer” button to add each additional plan to the patient’s account.
Note If you believe that the patient has previously entered insurance information, you can locate
and use this information by using the Payer History function in GoRev.
To begin, click on the “Payer History” button present in the top right corner of
the Patient Insurance area.
The Payer History window should, now, be present on your screen.
Please select the appropriate insurance plan from the list in this window.
To continue, click on the “Confirm Insurance” button present in the bottom right corner
of this window.
At this point, the patient’s insurance information should be auto-filled into the fields provided.
In addition, patient insurance may be added to a patient’s account in the Patient Overview window
To begin, open the Patient Overview window for the patient’s account.
Note If you have not or do not know how to navigate the Patient Overview window in GoRev,
please see the Navigating Patient Overview tutorial linked in the description box below.
Next, click on the Insurance button located in the Navigation Toolbar in the
Patient Overview window.
The Insurance area should now be visible.
In order to add insurance to the patient’s account, please click on the “New” button
located in the upper right corner of the Insurance area.
The “Add Payer” window should, now, be present on your screen.
To continue, please enter the patient’s insurance information into the corresponding
fields in this window.
Note If you believe that the patient has previously entered insurance information, you can locate
and use this information by clicking on the “Choose From Known Insurances” button
located in the top left corner of the “Add Payer” window.
The “Known Active Insurances” window should, now, be visible.
Please select the appropriate insurance from the list and click the “Load Insurance”
button located in the bottom right corner of this window.
At this point, the previously entered insurance information should be auto-filled into the
fields provided.
Please review the entered insurance information for accuracy and completion.
Once you are finished, please click on the “Save New Payer” button present in the
bottom right corner of the “Add Payer” window.
After saving this information, the patient’s insurance information should be present in
the Insurance area of the Patient Overview window.
Note You may add additional insurance plans to a patient’s account by clicking on the
“New” button and completing the steps detailed earlier in this video for each additional
insurance plan.
You can view each of the patient’s insurance plans by using the “Selected Payer”
drop-down menu present in the Insurance area.
