Hi, I'm Mike Cope and I want to encourage you to check out Randy Harris' new DVD series
on the Sermon on the Mount. Most of you know Randy as the great communicator that he is.
You know something about his scholarship. What you'll find out in this video series
is beyond all that, he has a radical commitment to living out the Sermon on the Mount. And
at this point in my life, that's what interests me most, not just the entertainment, not just
the scholarship, but somebody radically committed to the way of Jesus.
There are a lot of commands in the Sermon on the Mount and for the rest of this series we are going to
look at those commands. But I believe it's impossible to live out the Sermon on the Mount
if you don't first understand that you're loved and blessed by God. We all pursue the
American dream, we all want what is described as the good life. But Jesus reassures us that
the good life is found in unexpected places. In places like this, places of mourning, in
places of persecution, in places of poverty. The good life can be found there too because
God's love is what produces good life. You believe that you're blessed by God? There
are a lot more losers in the world than there are winners. There are a lot more people who
are poor and on the outside of society than those who are at the top. And Jesus' words
come ringing down through the years, regardless of what your world says, this is the truth
of the matter: in God's eyes, you're blessed.
