I'm Grace Crunican, General Manager at BART. The San Francisco Giant's Victory Parade is
this Wednesday and BART is ramping up to carry hundreds of thousands of excited fans into
the city for the celebration. All hands will be on deck to accommodate the
crowds just as they were two years ago when BART carried over 522,000 fans to the parade.
It was our all-time highest ridership day ever.
BART will run its rush hour service all day. Every train available will be used from the
beginning of service until the end. We'll have extra station agents, police and
staff to help customers who need assistance and with crowd control. Our maintenance crews
will be out in force ready to respond if needed. The sheer volume of people expected at the
parade is tremendous. This will be a day of celebration but it is
going to be crowded and we need your help to keep things running as smoothly as possible.
The number one thing you can do to make your trip easier is to purchase a round trip ticket
or load your Clipper card today. Swing by a station during your lunch break or on your
way home. Lines are going to be long on Wednesday- beat the rush and take care of it now.
Don't forget every passenger needs their own ticket.
Also, try to avoid peak commute hours which are 6am-9am and 4pm-6pm. Two years ago there
were lines as early as 4am and as late as 10pm.
Parking at BART stations is limited and parking rules and restrictions will be enforced.
Share a ride to BART or better yet, take the bus.
In coordination with San Francisco's "Home for Halloween," BART will end service hours
at its regular weekday time. There will be no additional late night trains home.
We look forward to celebrating with you on Wednesday. Have fun and be safe...and Congratulations
Giants!
