Hello would you like another story using the same three props from my story bag they were
a stone a piece of string and a twig How about this idea for using those three
props Once upon a time, beside a clear, sparkling
stream that bubbled and danced its way over the rocks and slid soft and silky through
pools, sat an old man with a long white beard and soft white hair His hair would lift softly
as the breeze blew Every day the old man would sit by the steam
with a stick he had cut from the hedge and to which he tied a long piece of string. He
would cast the string out into the stream and wait, still and quiet, gazing down into the water
Beside him, every day, sat his dog, which from time to time, would get up and wade into
the stream and gaze down into the water. Then, closing his eyes tightly, he would put his
head under the water and pick up a stone. He carried the stone back to the bank and
placed it beside the old man At the end of the day the old man would stand
up and cast the fishing rod and line into the stream and watch as it swirled and danced
down stream. Then seeing the pile of stones he would say Why, thank you, Dog and the old
man and his dog would walk slowly home for the night
The old man never caught any fish for there was no hook on his line. He liked to sit gazing
down into the water watching the fish flash and turn.
So if you ever walk along a river bank and see an old man and his dog and a pile of stones
– walk softly so that you do not disturb the fish
