Hello! I'm Rachelskirts, and I am super excited to be doing VEDA again this year. This is
my third year joining up with the folks of WeBlogWeVlog to do VEDA, or Vlog Every Day
in August. I have yet to actually make it past the first week. However, I've made some
really good friends and had a lot of good laughs, and I've had a lot of really great
experiences through VEDA and because of VEDA. So I'm excited to be doing that again this
year! Now for a quick rundown of some Skirts facts: I am 27 years old, I live in Chicago,
and yes, I love pizza. I also love cats; tigers are my favorite. Side note: let's talk about
Calvin and Hobbes at some point. I work at my church doing graphic design stuff, and
I spend the rest of my time napping. Okay, that's not entirely true, but this next bit
is going to sound slightly crazy. But I swear it's like a cute and quirky crazy, not like
Honey Boo Boo crazy or Ripley's Believe It or Not "hey, I'm some guy who eats planes
and bicycles for the fun of it" crazy. So bear with me. I am obsessed with the Lord
of the Rings movies and books. I have seen the movies almost 250 times, and I run the
@LOTR account on Twitter, which is a fan account. So I also run more than 50 other Twitter accounts,
which is not an exaggeration. I keep a list at rachelskirts.com/twitter, and no, I do
not have a very good reason for this except that it's fun. These accounts were originally
run by my sock monkey, Juan Pedro, who was named by the Internet and is beloved by the
Internet. And then my dad at some point got me Itty Bitty, who is adorable. And then I
accidentally became that person who has a sock monkey collection. And they're actually
more of my sock monkey army now, and it's really the best kind of army that I suppose
I could have. Or anybody for that matter. Other things I like to do in my spare time
when I'm not hanging out with my sock monkey pals: watching Doctor Who, going geocaching
with my dad, hanging out at Wrigley (go Cubs!), rocking out on the piano, reading any book
that isn't the book that I'm supposed to be reading for book club, eating breakfast in
bed, losing hours and hours to YouTube and Tumblr, taking and editing pretty pictures,
and hosting private dance parties in my bedroom to guilty pleasure songs. So I feel now like
I have slightly overshared, so if you'd like to forget this whole thing ever happened and
just go get cupcakes instead, I'm totally fine with that. Otherwise, I will see you
tomorrow. Bye!
