this is going to be a demonstration on how to decrease double crochet
I've just done a simple little basic row here
double crochet and when you get to the edge
i just chain two
instead of chain three and then i turn my work
and then i go to the next and then I do
my double crochet and
that's how you would decrease at the edge
at the starting point
if you need it decrease in the middle row
what you do is you
do your start after double crochet as you would normally be doing it
pull through the first
two loops on your hook
now you leave the remaining two on your hook
you do another double crochet
by wrapping the yarn over your hook you go to the next
previous double crochet put your hook through
pull it through and then you pull it through the first two
loops on your hook and then you put through all three
and then this gives you your double crochet
decrease
and then you continue on and
let's say I want to decrease
at the end have of my row I do
the same thing I start off
doing regular double crochet but i only go through the first two loops on
my hook
wrap the yarn over my hook
go to the last double crochet
pull my yarn through pull the yarn through the first two loops on the hook
that will leave three and then I put through and there you can see how it's
joined together at the top
and so in this particular demonstration I have three decreases one at the
beginning
one in the middle and then one at the end
and decrease at the beginning of this one and
say I just want to keep doing decreases
i go on to my next decrease put my yarn through the previous
stitch pull it through
pull my yarn through the first two
leave the two remaining loops on the hook
wrap my yarn over my hook put it in the next stitch
pull the yarn through, pull my loop through the first two
that gives me three remaining on my hook
and then i pull it through the last three
so there right now I have three
decreases on my on my
example and so this last one
because I did a decrease previously i
I'll do just one
double crochet
and so than there's what its starting to look like it's becoming a point
on the top
so I'll chain two
do a double crochet in my
next stitch
and then I'll do one double crochet decrease
and then that leaves me with two
i have to double crochet decreases up there
and then if I wanna go on up to the top
i'll just chain two
do a double crochet
and then that gives me my point just like that
it looks kinda like that green
Hershey's candy kiss but there's the example for
double crochet decrease
this will be a demonstration of how to increase
with the double crochet so when you see
I N C which means increase
then you will know this is what they're talking about
so I just go ahead and
chain 3 turn my work
and then I do
a double crochet in the same
stitch so this is actually putting two
because the chain 3 is always equal
to a double crochet so right now I have two
in the same stitch move on to the next one
I do two double crochet
which is increasing by two more so now I have
four double crochet in
two previous double crochet i just do
two more
two more the next and then
i'll do two in my last
so I should have 10 altogether when i am done
so you can see how it's starting to expand
i chain 3
I continued double crochet and say this row you
only have to do two increases in
we get here over to this stitch and we just do
two double crochet in the same stitch
and skip one
and two double crochet increase in the next stitch
and just continue
double crochet
and you can see how it's getting wider at the top
with each time that you do a double crochet increase
and so there's an example for
double crochet increase
