Working on outbreaks at CDC,
I think one of the things that concerns us the most
early on in an investigation is the uncertainty.
If you go into a setting
where there have been cases of infection,
maybe deaths due to infection,
you don't necessarily know where the cause is,
and so there's a lot of work that has to happen very quickly
to figure out where the source of the infection is.
I think one of the things that keeps me at CDC
are the people that are here, the quality of people,
their drive, and the challenges that are offered to us.
I think there's no other place
where there's this kind of opportunity to do public health.
