Good morning everybody!
Good morning Blue.
Did you say good morning to the children?
Morning children.
Cool.
Have you been to the footy lately?
Yeah pretty good,
we will be right buddy don’t you worry, yes.
I’ve got a lovely book to read to the children this morning,
Family Forest.
Hmm, it’s not what you expect.
So Blue how about you go get comfortable
and I’m going to read the book.
Good on you.
Family Forest by Kim Kane and Lucia Musciullo.
People often ask who’s in my family, well...
I have two sisters, Eliza and Harriet.
Eliza is my half sister,
No! She has a right leg! And a right arm too!
Yes, that’s Eliza.
Sometimes she’s my arch enemy,
but most of the time she’s alright.
Harriet is my whole sister. No! Not like that!
Yes, that’s Harriet.
We just say whole because we’re not halves.
We have the same mum and the same dad.
This is my dad. He’s called Duncan, but he answers to Dad.
Even when it’s not me, or Eliza, or Harriet...
Dad! Dad! Dad! Dad! Dad!
When he’s surprised he says, ‘Well, cut off my legs and call me shorty!’
He’s funny, my dad.
Dad is married to Babs. She’s my step-mum.
No! Not like that!
Or that!
Yes, that’s Babs.
This is my mum. I call her Jane.
She says that’s just the sort of family we are.
Rod is Jane’s partner.
No! Not like that!
Or that!
Jane and Rod aren’t married, but they live together.
Rod has a son called Charlie.
He’s my step-brother, but I call him my big brother.
Not that big!
Charlie is a painter.
No! Not like that!
Yes, that’s Charlie.
Sometimes he paints with me.
Harriet says we need a map to work out our family.
But it’s not so tricky.
While some kids have a family tree...
We have a family forest!
And there they all are.
Family Forest.
How was that for a story?
Hey Blue! Where are you?
That was a bit funny wasn’t it?
One of the sisters was only half there
and the other one had holes in her,
and the poor old mum she looked like a set of steps.
Goodness me! What’s going on in the world.
Bluey it’s time for us to say goodbye to the children, are you ready?
You can sing with me today. Ready?
Horsey horsey don't you stop,
just let your feet go clippity clop,
your tail goes swish and the wheels go round,
giddy up giddy up your homeward bound.
Bye, see you next time.
