Well the biggest difference between an Ed.D. and a Ph.D. has to do with course content.
The Ed.D. content is leadership, whereas the Ph.D. content is Psychology. The Ed.D. looks
at learning through the perspective of leadership and organizational development. The Ph.D.
looks at things through the eyes of psychology and also has a little greater emphasis on
research skills. All of our programs of study also offer five emphasis courses; so a difference
in a program will be five emphasis courses. We all have research courses, however, the
Ph.D. is a research degree. And so in the psychology program, you'll get greater depth
in methodology and also statistical analysis. So you'll be prepared to be a researcher.
The Ed.D. is in organizational leadership, so it is designed for people who are looking
to step into a leadership position in any kind of an organization; this can be a non-profit
organization, it can be a church, it could be a school or a school district. The dissertation
process for the Ed.D. and the Ph.D. are identical. So once you are at the end of your coursework
and you go into the dissertation process, that process will be exactly the same for
the Ed.D. and the Ph.D.
