Here is my G400 Logitech mouse.
I use it for about 6 months by now.
And I have to say its great mouse, it feels absolutely increadible in game.
Weh I bought it I made several custom changes to it.
First of all I fixed slipped right click button.
It felt like it was not completely touching the clicker inside.
When I pushed button, it first HIT the clicker and only then clicker was clicked.
What I did is I made the clicker inside to be little more higher.
So now, when button is not pressed, the clicker is touching the outer side of mouse (button from internal side of it).
Second change I made - I took the original bottom
and I replaced it with bottom from Logitech MX518 mouse.
Basicly if you can find any MX510 or MX500 bottom
then you will see that it has same form as MX158, so
you can use it for replacement for G400.
So why I did it? Becase the original bottom had big pads.
and when it moved on a pad
I had feeling that I have to work too much to move the mouse
just because of these big pads.
So, what MX518 mouse has,
it has five small legs.
and moving of MX158 on pad is really easy.
About these legs...
They are not original legs. Original legs are balck.
And they cost , I don't know.. about 8$ for 5 pieces.
I tried to look for some cheaper option and what I found
such set of legs.
And they cost about 1.5$ ... with shipping?
I am sorry, I forgot.. I got 5-6 sets of them, thats why it cost me so cheap.
These five that you see here they serve me for 6 months
and they still in very good working condition.
Ah, yeah, my pad is Steel Series QCK.
It's old but nice.
Now I am going to take this mouse apart
And I will show you how I fixed bad button here.
Screws are standard.
Basicly the inside of this mouse is the same as MX518,
but the new part is that now two plates are connected with fixed connector,
that you can't take apart.
So if you want to get one plate out,
you have to open all screws here. They are three.
One.. Two.. Three.. So, let's take them out.
So, the problematic button was here, on this side.
This is the problematic clicker.
IT was located too low.
So, what I did to rise it up?
If you open your mouse like this
You have here two pins:
this one and this one, that
hold this plate. Whole this plate sits on them.
And what I did I took small part of wire isolation
I cut it on one side
and I mouted it on this pin here.
Total thikness of this isolation is about 1mm.
Like this...
And then I put whole construction back.. back? Ah!
I made two such isolation bands here! See?
I put it on the second pin there. This is a first one
and this is a second one.
So, lets do it.
Now I'll bring it all together..OK
And now whole plate sits a little bit higher then before.
Adn that's why this clicker
touches inside part where it should touch.
Here , this part. It must touch here when mouse is closed.
Now I am going to build up whole mouse back.
Finally the problematic button fixed
and now it gives one click on one push and not two clicks as before.
One thing I forgot to mention is the cord of this mouse. It's much lighter
and thinner then one of mosue Logitech MX518.
Here is original MX518 and it cord.
You can see there is a 1.5 difference between them.
I am big fan of MX518
And I got several mice of this model - my two old mice
Just to have them its already nice :-)
Couple of words more about G400.
As you can see it has som nice finish.. grey color.
But with time it will be worn out and it becomes
kind of mirror, here you can see the spot of finger..
I don't know why they made this new upper part,
I think the old design was just perfect.
So I don't know why they change it, maybe it was pure marketing step.
Finally what I have here is modded mouse.
I hope this video not too bad to watch it.
and that you did not spend your time on watching something worthless.
Thanks for watching. Bye bye.
