My name is Chigo, I’m doing Law and Criminology and I’m in my final year.
I chose Kingston for three main reasons
Firstly I really like the location, it’s
not right in central London but it’s easy enough to get to
And secondly I really like the course because it’s not just law, it’s something a bit different as well.
I found out that you could study abroad if I came here so that was one of my motivating factors
The last year I went abroad and I went to UNCC, that’s in America
It was amazing, I really loved it
I think that has been one of the highlights of studying at Kingston.
I have done the core law modules like Criminal Law, Land Law and stuff like that
And also core Criminology modules
Which is a lot of theory
But this year, because I’m in my final year I have an elective
So I’m doing French as well which I really like
While I was abroad I got to do electives not just core modules
So I did Violence and the Violent Offender, and I did Juvenile Justice and I found all of that quite interesting
I do Student Ambassador work as well
So I’ve got to meet a whole range of people
There’s like people from all different walks of life, so different from college obviously
I think it comes as a surprise because I mean you aren’t used to it
But I’ve met some really great people
I want to keep my options really open and
Because I’ve studied abroad I think I want to do something where I can work internationally
So probably work with an international company
Thats sort of thing
Kingston is a really great place, location-wise and
Lecturers that are always here to help you if you don’t understand anything
I think the difference about Kingston is that fact that they give you a lot of skills that you can use in the real world of work like
For your assessments it’s not just essays, it’s not just coursework
You get to do presentations
You have the chance to do placements
So you’re really learning skills that you are going to be able to transfer
To get out there, and get a job
