Good evening!
My name is Tandrayen Labie.
It's a name with South India origins.
Everyone calls me Drayen.
It's the very first time that I play under my own name.
Enjoy the show!
Kissa i Lé!
Kissa i Lé, this title comes from Creole (from the Reunion island). It could mean "Who is it?".
Here, it means "Who I am".
The specificity in jazz, when it's well done,is to say who you are.
In this project, I play my own jazz.
I come from a place where the rythm is important. In this music, I wanted to put a rythm typically from the Indian ocean.
It's what you call a 12/8.
The sound will then say : this person comes from "elsewhere", "the islands".
The sounds - for instance I use clear and heavy sounds - it shows that I have travelled, I've listened to Jimi Hendrix, The Rolling Stones...
I've had a metal band for a long time.
It's a music with an energy I really like. I've played a lot of it, thus the heavy sounds.
The harmony is a sophisticated one, it's jazz harmony. It's a music that I really feel.
Thank you.
Thank you very much!
Rémi Viala on the bass.
Marine Flèche on Drums.
Thanks a lot!
