My name is Ken Edwards, I’m an orthopaedic surgeon, and I practice in St. Joseph. Our
practice is St. Joseph Center for Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine. I actually grew up on
Long Island in New York and I went to college in Massachusetts Medical School in Syracuse
but I took a Navy scholarship to go to medical school. I was stationed at Great Lakes Naval
Hospital, which is North of Chicago. So my wife and I really came to enjoy the Perry-Chicago
area, and having grown up on Long Island I was looking for someplace near the water.
So I came to interview here, and just loved it. And I’ve been here for 18 years. One
of the great things about orthopaedics is we take care of patients from birth until
they’re very very elderly. We take care of a wide variety of medical interventions
for a wide scope of problems. Our practice is unique in that, in that you get great orthopaedic
expertise, you get the experience of a staff that has been dedicated to nothing but orthopaedics
for almost 2 decades, and you get a great commitment of our practice to our community.
When people ask what’s the best part of my job, I would say without a doubt it’s
the relationship that I have with my patients. And the ability to intervene very actively
in improvement of their healthcare.
