Welcome to part seven of our end of the world series
Let there be light - just not too much of it
the sun regularly emits solar flares these eruptions bathe the earth
with high-speed subatomic particles that cause magnetic disturbances
interfere with Satellites
and create the Aurora Borealis
so far such flares have been mostly nuisances
but other suns and warn us what might happen at any moment - astronomers have
noted some like stars in other solar systems
that briefly flare twenty times brighter - why?
they hypothesized that those suns release super flares
eruptions a million times more powerful than any ordinary solar flare
if our sun did that
it would literally fry our planet to a crisp
Did you know that solar flares not only disrupt satellites but also the power grid
threatening a worldwide blackout - Stop by Facebook and tell me what's your emergency
backup plan if a solar flare knocks out all communication
I'll be reading your posts and commenting myself
Until next week Stay curious
