Why are our attorneys' fees lower than most firms? That's a good question. Sometimes a
client will come to us and be surprised that our attorney fees are lower than other attorneys
practicing law in D.C. There are essentially two reasons why our firm charges less than
other lawyers. Knowing the local routines in the courthouse is one. Knowing your area
of law. Some attorneys have this general practice and do everything under the law. In doing
this, they will not know the ins and outs of the law in the courthouse. For example,
there was an attorney that billed a client for almost 7 hours of waiting time for a case
that wouldn't have been called until 1pm. He got down to the courthouse at 8am. In the
morning and billed the client's family for all that waiting time until 1:00 in the afternoon.
Had he been a criminal practitioner in the District of Columbia, he would have known
what time cases are called in the D.C. Superior court throughout the day and therefore charge
the family, starting from when the cases are called in the afternoon. Furthermore, an experienced
criminal lawyer in D.C. practice will also give you his best estimate based on similar
cases. An experienced criminal lawyer should be able to estimate how long the case will
take and how to save you money. The second reason our firm charges less than
most firms is because we leverage technology. What does that mean? What we do to be more
cost effective and cheaper for consumers is because we use technology to shift the cost.
We use productivity software to control the course. For example, rarely will you ever
get a letter in the mail from us unless you specifically request it. We use a closed portal
system to communicate with our clients. In turn, everyone saves money. The practice of
law is changing, and so lawyers must adapt to the change. If your lawyer has not adapted
to the change and utilizing technology, then your legal fees are going to be higher. If
