I'm Major General Greg Vadnais. I am the director of the Department of Military and
Veterans Affairs
We are 11,000 strong Army and Air
focused on providing ready, relevant
forces to meet our state and nation's need
Additionally we are focused on providing
quality services to the over 700,000 veterans from
the state of Michigan. Our vision is to be the premier
National Guard organization in the United States and to provide
the absolute premier services to our veterans.
We're focused on recruiting and retaining quality soldiers and airmen. We
are aggressively out pursuing
the finest quality soldiers and airman. Under Governor Snyder's
leadership we have expanded the role that the
Michigan Veterans Affairs agency. Benefits that are available
to our 700,000 veterans span everything from health care to
education
assistance with jobs certainly the benefit
for the homes that we provide. It really spans a very broad
set. Our soldiers and Airmen's in the Michigan National Guard particularly
over the last 12 years of war:
22,000 deployed, 21 making the ultimate sacrifice.
We have approximately 250
Michigan army National Guardmen deployed and about 50
Air National Guardsmen deployed around the world. We look to the future
I see a very bright future. We're really excited about the future and
Michigan Veterans Affairs agency and looking
to expand the quality of service to our veterans.
