Well, what I'm hoping to do is a couple of different things.
I want to meet with a lot of the people that are being affected
by the spill and also experts that live
in Mississippi Delta Region that have been dealing with issues
like coastal restoration.
What I hope to be able to bring back with me,
might be the best way of going about answering that,
is the kind of first hand experience
that I don't think I can, you know I've been scouring
through media everyday and media coverage on it,
but I think that if you have that kind
of first hand experience in a situation you can bring
that back to the classroom and make that so much more, I guess,
real for the students.
Be able to bring in personal stories of,
not just things I've read about, but actual people
that I've talked to and hopefully find stories
that have been overlooked.
Also leads to where all this is going.
Hopefully, you know the well is close
to being capped at this point.
You know there are already stories
about the oil itself being broken up and being of harder
and harder to find,
which doesn't mean it's not there anymore it just means it's
been dispersed.
You know I hope, in part, to be able to see some
of the devastation it's caused for myself and also to be able
to talk to people down there who have been affected by it
so it'll make me more effective in the classroom in the fall.
