the i_m_f_
and the world bank basically
uh...
compel
compelled latin american nations
to make what they called structural adjustments
uh... which are basically some form of neo liberal economics
uh... which would
include privatization open markets
privatization and open markets are a god-given gift to american finance and american
industry
and so on the one hand although it's posed as a universal
in just good business practice and banking practice
which it may well be
good banking practice
although i'm not sure of that
uh...but it
it's not really universal it's not really the only way to do business
you know uh... it seems to me that from what i've been reading in the
last couple of years
the by demanding high interest rates uh... paying off deficits
which the united states seems to be unable to do
but high interest rates paying off deficits uh... open markets less
regulation
what is happened is a lot of these uh... third world and and less developed
countries uh... the small already small
business small business class has been put out of business
as uh... large companies from america and england and the rest of them come in and
take over
small farmers have been put out of business
and a lot millions upon millions of people suffer terribly and they don't
want this and that may be one of the reasons why chavez is so popular
down there
