When we talk about mathematical statements, we use a phrase to describe this quantity.
In algebra, we talk about two different kinds of quantities. If the phrase contains only
numeric values, we say that's a numeric expression. When the phrase contains simple and numeric
values, then we call it an algebraic expression. Let me give you a couple of examples. Numeric
could be two plus five equals seven, or three times two equals six. Here I used two different
operators here. Now algebra.
We can say two X, X being your variable, plus five equals seven. Now, we're not restricted
to only one variable in algebraic expressions. We can have another expression, we can have
a seven X plus three Y equals six.
