Hello, as this new quarter starts we at the ASUW Student Senate wanted to take a moment
and let you know about the important student issues that were discussed last quarter.
King County Metro faces a 17% budget cut which puts 14 bus lines servicing the UW at risk
of major service reduction.
In response, the ASUW Office of Government Relations submitted R-20-23; a resolution
in support of King Country Transportation Options.
This Resolution supported the Move King County Now campaign which supported local funding
options for transit.
The senate also held a forum with city council member Larry Phillips.
Senate also passed a resolution in support of a pilot program for Pay it Forward. A proposed
higher education funding model which creates more flexible tuition options for students.
We supported a pilot program at a small University with strong administrative and student support.
The student senate also hosted forums with campus administrators such as provost Ana
Mari Cauce who gave an update on the process of adding a criminal background check to admissions.
Last quarter UW Regents met with students in the senate to hold forums and get student
information and discuss issues that are effecting the University currently.
Many other important issues were discussed during fall quarter.
Resolutions passed by the senate are how ASUW decides its official stance on certain issues
on campus.
The ASUW Student Senate is a fun and easy way to get involved in the Universities decision
making process, and its never too late to join.

Thanks for watching, stay tuned for more updates and of course, we hope to see you at a senate
meeting soon.
