a course on the postings online can get some individuals in trouble especially
when they don't think before they post
so most people include teenagers so teenagers are on social media there's no
way you can stop its Facebook its Twitter its Instagram
for what if all of a sudden there's legislation or even a law
that would allow teenagers to delete all their postings
regardless of which company or which social media site be posted on
well that's currently happening in california Governor Jerry Brown
I did sign a law that would basically allows teams to get
and online eraser button so it doesn't matter which formed a post on
they would be able to what talk to
the administrators on that form or that site and
have them walk the teenagers through the process deleting those posts so they
will cease to exist
that I think it's a great idea yeah right
in the world who was a bit what what what what are we missing that this is
not a good idea
yeah I mean I think this is pretty fantastic however I think
we have to say here this is probably unrealistic thing
mean anything a series of things can be done to keep these posts out there
forever
someone to just take a screenshot didn't work then there you go there forever so
the idea
they could really disappear or that the essays got it or whatever
I don't know that this stuff really disappear but I would like to see this
extended anyone under 45
would be fine with me if we all I mean really we get all this technology we put
all this stuff out there and then we read the Terms of Service later we find
out what's really going on
I'm and I think we all deserve an opportunity to to clean out the door
that they're definitely some tax i IR tweets I would like to have
I would take back I'm really applied me if
I have a moment's hesitation should I send this you don't that right bill said
I actually you know larry is thought maybe yeah
will get back into the city there is anything but the other day I deleted it
we frightening only the third or fourth time ever
because during the pre-show at the Emmys on the red carpet
Giuliana Rancic i think is her name was talking
and she's incredibly thin and has huge *** and I made a joke about
something about her huge *** in are they being held up by the state
if all but I didn't realize you but I didn't realize that she had had a double
mastectomy and that's what I got it but I didn't know
I know but I got a flurry of tweets a.m. you know yelling at me basically and I
obviously apologize that I do know that I deleted the tweet but
though it I sometimes you savings unintentionally that would offend people
yeah
and now it's repeated it yeah
wow yeah I totally get it but at the same time
I i'm worried that this type of law would give people a false sense of
security
because then all of a sudden you can you know teenagers will think well yeah I
can post something that I can easily delete it and and it'll disappear
forever
but as you mentioned it's not necessarily the case people can do a
screenshot
where people can find ways to say that information he kinda reminds me a
snapshot a little bit because snapchat give people this false sense of security
they want to send out the risque text and pictures
and they think that with that title just disappear after a few seconds
but people just have to wish do a quick up screenshot and then they can say that
make a picture forever
yeah so that fall social security can be very dangerous never
have received a naked picture never why I find that hard to believe
first received a naked picture upset IQ
johnnie johnnie pies de semana yeah
you yet so I do what every day
quote from chimps tire he's the CEO of Common Sense Media and he says
kids and teens frequently itself revealed before they self reflecting
today's digital age mistakes
can stay with and hot kids for their entire lives this bill is a big step
forward for front privacy rights especially since california has more
tech companies
than any other state together I like it's a good idea
I mean I don't see teens say I'm gonna said this because I know I can call the
system okay
right work through eight steps to get deleted I think that
teens who were incredibly drunk one night are incredibly stupid or appealing
incredibly mean toward somebody else
can on reflection a day or two later thank a
those that was terrible and I woulda number to take those back and not have
it because they're they're keeping kids out a
couch is what as well yes let me give you that statistic is an incredible so
college admissions officers did admit that they do check social media
when they're you know reading through applications in fact 24 percent
checked out applicants social networking sites and
you know %uh a portion of those up admissions officers did say that
if they came across something that looked a little suspicious or
questionable
for instance at the teenagers drinking or doing anything that seems a
you know salacious or ever they won't even consider them into the university
so
that's problematic and i'd I tried to tell students in my class
about that all the time I was give them a quick warning and I feel like a
grandma when I do it
right but II just for my own experimental purposes
quickly did a Facebook search on random people in my class and stuff comes up
you're just like god it's amazing you don't have to know this person you just
look them up on Facebook at all the sudden you know all these intimate
details about the ID
I got a facebook maybe like a facebook you got on the facebook no
do you guys think that maybe this is just us being over a certain age where
the the people that are the kids that are $15 now they're putting this stuff
out there constantly
and openly maybe they're going to usher in I time when everything will be open a
new look already we've had a guy that just ran for mayor
that had his his *** pics out there we've had
a president who's admitted smoking pot pretty much and too I think that about
*** even
so likes we're starting to get this about it might be cathartic for all of
us
that we're gonna generation of kids come up and their thoughts are going to be
out there and
the drinking they did on the drugs and then everyone just get over it
because it's just part of life I think with all the privacy violations that
stuff
is almost inevitable right all all over dirty laundry will be aired and you have
no choice but to be kinda desensitized to it
you realize everyones a freak like everyone has something is something that
they're a little embarrassed by
freak you that even a Facebook group I men's the biggest break up the mall
i think is live here separate you
yet look at some point admission officers are going to be people who had
Facebook pages like this I hope so why we're like in the worst time
I went to college in the in the late eighties which was the worst
8589 the worst time in American history ago
because if you had sex with someone you were told you're just a
okay I i'm just like what you can do it
but your um so like no one what
have sex but are you know but eventually we will get to
point where so now it's bad for these kids too because we're
your deal with admission officers who or put off by the stuff but
twenty years from now I i think thats right I I think it was i think there
will be a sea change in how we
how we deal with the sort isn't it ironic that an admission officer would
say to a kid oh yeah come in disguise because it drinking and drugs
because isn't that the point of college anymore appointed at least help the
local economy
that where the colleges though that's a it seems it seems ridiculous
but any cause you're making these decisions based on like the state but
you know
picture is worth a thousand words as the worst cool grey American history a
picture
giant why it is a it is a 14 ames snapshot
of time it tells you nothing a smiling they look so happy
you know my brother works for date night so every time you see what were my
brother statewide races you realize
well they look happy in that picture but he killed her fright you
so rail so it's really it it but you're right to point out to the kids are you
teach that
that they should be careful
