We try to get a car back to pre-accident condition, is what our goal is.
We repair panels, frame pulling and paint color match and prep the car.
Fix dents, pull out damages.
There are a lot of things involved in repairing a car correctly.
There’s a sequence of events that must be done correctly and properly.
I really like Saint Paul College because teachers are helping you hands on.
They show you. If you run into a little problem, you know, you just got to ask them questions.
The teachers here really help me, guide me through
every process that we do in the auto body shop here.
Everything is brand new, everything is brand new down there, all the mechanics.
From electric to water, compressed air, to the spray booths.
It’s growing and changing. It’s changing with all the new technology and hybrid cars
and high voltages and fancy paints and water born products.
We’ve gotten the solvents and the nasty environmental things out of the products.
They’ve just eliminated them and we generate much less waste and
we’re a much greener technology because of the water based
products and the emissions that we put out.
The jobs we do today would be considered custom paint jobs a few years ago.
So we’re up to that level. That’s what people expect.
They pay a lot of money for a car and it needs to come back as good,
or better, than when it was in the accident.
It’s really creative. You can get really creative with the cars.
Our job placement has been excellent.
For the diploma it’s a 3 semester program and for your AAS degree
it’ll probably be about 2 years. I’m just going to go for my
diploma first and then get out into the field and then come back and get my AAS.
